We have been involved with multiple barn conversion projects across Somerset, largely due to the surplus of agricultural industry in the West Country and unused farm buildings. Countryside living holds more appeal than ever in recent years and whether you’re working from home, home schooling, have relatives staying or simply looking for space away from the neighbours, converting an unused barn or outbuilding can be a great solution. With people tending to holiday more in the UK in recent years, there’s also the lucrative opportunity to generate additional income by creating a unique holiday home.
This unique project in Puckington involved a full planning application for alteration and conversion works in a Conservation Area, which was successfully approved in early 2023. Along with extensive conversion work and conservation, the plans included breathable wall lining and a host of other energy efficient upgrades including solar array and underfloor heating.
The subsequent build phase took approximately 1 year and was finished to a high standard.
